Our Week at a Glance:
Hats off for Mental Health Day! We’ve been talking about how to protect our brains by staying in the “green zone,” and how to get back there if we’re feeling worried, sad, or overwhelmed. These strategies are so important for learning and well-being.
In math, we’ve completed our measurement unit and our final assessment on 2-digit + 2-digit addition with regrouping. We’ll continue to practice this skill throughout the year, but we’ll also be moving on to new learning. Extra practice at home is always helpful - Grade 3 builds on those strong Grade 2 foundations!
In literacy, we’re exploring verbs, writing strong story beginnings, using transition words, and “showing, not telling.” Students are working hard on "guided" adventure stories - lots of creativity happening!
In art, we’ve created beautiful sunset mountain landscapes and fun cat’s eye yarn crafts.
In science, we’re learning about Earth systems, including the atmosphere. We loved our “cloud in a jar” experiment and are exploring day and night, seasons, and how Earth’s path around the sun affects us.
Have a great weekend! Ask your child to tell you about these photos ๐
