We had a busy week in Grade 2!
Language Arts:
We’ve been learning about the homophones their, they’re, and there—a tricky one! We’ll keep practicing next week. Our adventure stories are almost complete. Next steps include writing extended endings, editing, and illustrating.
Math:
We’ve been practicing two-digit subtraction with exchanges, subtraction word problems, and reviewing skip counting forwards and backwards. We also reviewed 2-digit + 2-digit addition.
👉 Subtraction test is on Monday. Practice questions were sent home on Tuesday.
Next week, we’ll begin learning about 2D and 3D shapes while continuing to review concepts from the year.
Science:
We are wrapping up our unit on Earth Systems. What landforms are in Alberta? Where does our water come from? Where does it end up? What are UNESCO Heritage Sites and which ones are in Alberta? Next, we’ll start “What Grows Here?” and learn about plants.
Special Moments:
We had visitors—Mrs. Penford’s class! We taught them how to weave. It was a wonderful leadership opportunity and a chance to practice grace and courtesy with our classmates. We also made “cat eyes” with yarn—so fun! Be sure to check out our wall hanging!
