Hello Lovely Grade 2 Families!
May 4 STAR WARS DAY - May The 4th Be With You!!! - Dress up Star Wars clothes or like a character.. or don't! It's up to you!
Literacy: We focused on showing, not telling by acting out emotions, describing characters through their actions, and using our five senses to describe places (birthday party, beach, camping, forest). Students paired up to share ideas and practiced using strong verbs. Students were introduced to writing that included fun similes and metaphors.
Math: Students rotated through 6 stations. Three focused on 2‑digit addition with regrouping using base‑10 blocks, games, and word problems. Three reviewed coin counting, skip counting, and number sense.
📌 Test next Thursday on 2‑digit + 2‑digit addition (e.g., 45 + 76). We always start with the ones: 9 is fine—10 or more? Trade and head next door! Please practice at home if your child isn’t fully confident.
Farewell to our sweet chicks—it was such a special experience! Ask your child what we named them and what’s happening in the photos below.

FUN LUNCH:
The next Fun Lunch will be held on Wednesday May 27.
Fun Lunch is only for grades 1-4 and our EES students.

- Add your child’s information in the “add child” box – name, province, city, school, grade and class.

Please make sure to send a morning snack with your child on Fun Lunch Days. Orders must be placed by the Friday before the day.

On Monday May 4th, staff and students can wear their best Star Wars T-shirts or dress like their favourite character from the movie.
