This Week in Our Classroom

We had a wonderful visit to the Sam Centre! Students explored the history of the Calgary Stampede, including Indigenous perspectives, the importance of volunteerism, the rodeo, the midway, and how all of these pieces come together to create the heritage and traditions we celebrate today.
A huge thank‑you to our amazing volunteers—these special learning experiences wouldn’t be possible without you!

Math
We wrapped up our unit on fractions this week. Great effort from everyone!

Literacy
Here is the link to next week’s spelling words. We will continue sending them home, but I will also start posting them on our weekly blog as an extra reminder:

Next week we will begin our unit on narrative writing, which is always a student favourite.

Over the next two weeks, students will rotate through math centres that review number sense/place value, basic facts, fractions, skip counting, and more.

Social Studies
On Monday, we’ll begin a new unit called Systems, Trade, and Government.
Miss Chloe Parker, our practicum student from St. Mary’s University, will be teaching this unit as part of her final year of study. Many students may already know her from church or around the community—we are very lucky to have her with us!

Classroom Community
Today we learned about Ramadan and created a craft to celebrate this important holiday in the Muslim community. The students were thoughtful and engaged throughout the lesson.

Have a great weekend everyone!
